SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS

So this is Christmas… and another year has gone by.

I’m grateful I’ll get to spend it with my daughter later today. We split the day, so I’ll pick her up at 4, head to my parents’ house to eat with the family and do Christmas there, then bring her back home and do our Christmas with her.

Which means I still have a few hours to wrap. Yes… I’ve waited forever.

I have a decent amount to wrap and wondered if it would be illegal or frowned upong ot hire a hooker to come do it for me or if I happen to see somebody outside the plasma donation center, not realizing they are closed, I can offer them some cash. I’m kidding. Well, mostly.

Speaking of wrapping: my daughter is 13 now, and it hit me this is the first Christmas I didn’t step foot in the toy aisle. Last year I got ahead of the curve and started her a vinyl collection (record player, stand, a few albums). This year I’m adding to it, plus some art supplies, new Beats earbuds, Funko Pops, and a few other things. I think I’ve got 22 presents to wrap for her.

It’s kind of sad knowing the holiday season is wrapping up. I love Christmas. I love everything about it. I’m not especially religious, but let’s be real, Jesus probably wasn’t born on December 25th anyway, and at this point, the day is basically powered by corporate American greed, whether we like it or not.

Speaking of America… it feels more divided than ever.

When I started this website, I honestly didn’t know what it would become. I just needed something to keep me busy in my downtime. A place where my ADD brain could run wild without judgment. I don’t share this stuff on my personal accounts, and I pretty much keep my identity under wraps. This is my safe zone. If it grows, it’ll be organically. No begging for likes and shares, so chances are it’ll stay small and low-key.

And I never meant for it to get political, but it has, at least a little. The truth is I don’t root against Trump because I love my country, and rooting against him would feel like rooting against America. I just don’t like him. He’s an asshole. He seems demented. There are no guardrails or accountability, and I’m beyond tired of 80-year-old leadership running this country.

Look, I consider myself a moderate…left-leaning, sure, but I’m smart enough to realize extremes exist on both sides. And some of this stuff has gotten so out of hand that it’s embarrassing. People… you look ridiculous with your Trump-wrapped trucks, Trump flags, and wearing bandages over your ears.

But today isn’t about all that.

Today I’m wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope you have a safe and wonderful day spent with family, friends, and the people you love. With so much division in the country, today feels like the perfect time to put our differences aside and focus on what brings us together. Keep the vibes positive.

As I keep this site rolling into the new year, I’m going to try to knock out some things I originally intended to do. When I check out a new brewery, maybe I’ll finally start reviewing it (and circle back to a few I’ve already been to). I might also start reviewing some of the beers and albums I’ve collected along the way.

And yeah, I’m sure I’ll still get political from time to time, because it matters. It matters to have a voice. That’s what democracy is supposed to be, and what our freedoms guarantee us.
