4-POINT FIELD GOAL? WTF IS THE UFL DOING
The UFL deserves credit for trying bold ideas. Moving teams to better markets makes sense, and rules like no punting past the 50 are the kind of changes that can make the game more aggressive and fun, but the new 4-point field goal for kicks of 60 yards is ass backwards in my opinion.
Football should reward teams for moving the ball and sustaining drives, not for barely crossing midfield and launching a long kick. I get that a 60-yard field goal is impressive, but it does not represent offensive success the way a well-executed drive does. If the goal is to encourage better football, the league should focus on rewarding teams that actually advance the ball, so maybe the 4-point field goal should be those kicks made within 30 yards?
Long field goals are exciting, but football should reward moving the ball.
